Albums Of 2007 I Am Most Anticipating
1.Raekwon-Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II
Release Date: sometime in the year
Raekwon's albums since the first OB4CL have been spotty, so it makes sense that he would go back to one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made. Raekwon recently got signed to Aftermath, so Dre will be producing some stuff on here. but no need to fear Wu fans! RZA is going to be producing the majority of the album, as well as J Dilla(RIP), Scram Jones, and DJ Scratch. Wu members GZA and Inspectah Deck will be the people most featured on the album like how GFK was on the first(but don't worry, he'll be on a few of the cuts too). Nas is also said to guest on it, which would be great cause Verbal Intercourse was one of the best songs on the first album. also guitar genius John Frusciante is said to be featured on the album somewhere.
It is very hard to make a sequel to one of the best hip-hop albums ever, but I am sure Rae, and the RZA know what they are doing and wouldn't put the II on there for no reason. It also helps that Rae has been on fire in 06 with great guest spots on Fishscale, Big Bang, and Hi-Tek's new album.
2.Radiohead-LP7
Release Date: sometime in the year
this was on my list for albums I can't wait for in 06. well, sadly it never ended up coming out, but there has been some activity in the Radiohead camp this year. of course, Thom surprised us all by releasing an album in July called the eraser which was amazing. The band also toured accross Europe and major North American cities in smaller venues to preview some of the new material, and play the old classics. currently the band is unsigned, which makes them not have any deadlines for an album. it also looks like longtime producer Nigel Godrich will be producing it.
though Nigel Godrich recently said in an interview with Pitchfork:

as long as it actually comes out SOMETIME in the year, I will be happy. though the eraser sure tied me over.
3.GhostDoom(Ghostface Killah & MF Doom)-Swift And Changeable
Release Date: Feburary
another album that was on my list last year. only real happening with that album was that the song "Angeles" hit the internet around Feburary of this year. it's a really great song with amazing MF Doom production. other then that, the only other happening with this album was that it got pushed back a lot. there are some rumors that the problem is trying to get Def Jam(GFK's label) all with the idea, cause they are planning to release it on the indie label Lex Records. whenever the album ends up coming out, it should be any true hip-hop fan's dream.
4.The Arcade Fire-Neon Bible
Release Date: March or April
i'm so pumped for this. Funeral was, of course, a classic, and Neon Bible is shaping up to be just as great. a song from it just leaked this week called "Intervention", and I can say that it's just as good as anything on Funeral(if anyone wants it, I can PM it over). just the type of music that makes you feel it's great that this band is around, and especially since they are Canadian.
5.U2-TBA
Release Date: sometime in the year
when I started getting really into music, U2 was one of the very first bands I got into. so I always look forward to whatever new release they have. for this new album they are working with the great Rick Rubin, and recording in Abbey Road studios. the first sign of this album was the single "Window In The Skies" which was released for the U218 greatest hits, and it's classic U2.
6.Marrdest Mouse-We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
Release date: "early next year"
now this will be great. Modest Mouse have always been a cool band, but now with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr actually JOINING the band the band have gotten 10000x cooler. the single "Dashboard" looks to come out at the end of January, so the album should be out soon after hopefully.
7.Wilco-TBA
Release Date: April
I have always liked Wilco, but 2006 was the year I finally got really into them. such an insanely talented and great band. they performed a new song when Late Night with Conan O'Brien was in Chicago in May, and it sounded excellent.
8.Rancid-TBA
Release Date: Spring
Rancid have always been one of my favorite bands, but when I saw them live in October they became one of my all time favorite bands. they put on an incredible show. all their albums have been amazing (except Indestructible, which was very iffy) so the new album should be great. sad news is that Brett Reed, drummer for the band since it started, left the band for no real reason in late 06. the former drummer of the Used is now the new drummer. it seems odd cause they all seem like such a tight knit group, and they always talk about being family so it was quite a shock to me. whatever the case, I still can't wait for the new album.
9.Kaiser Chiefs-TBA
Release Date: Feburary
finally! the return of my favorite new band of 2005. the new single called "Ruby" looks be out in January, and should be great. they are also working again with Stephen Street , who besides their debut has worked with The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries, and more.
10.Dr.Dre-Detox
Release Date:September(yes, it seems like it's actually coming out)
this album is the hip-hop world's version of Chinese Democracy. though it looks like it may actually be coming out in 07. in a recent video posted on YouTube, Bishop Lamont right beside Dre says that the album is coming out in September with his debut album on Aftermath, The Reformation coming out soon after. both albums are being made at the same time. expect the whole Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit group to be featured on it with Bishop Lamont to be featured the most, since he is Dre's new Snoop Dogg.
there are other albums coming out that I really can't wait for, but that is the solid 10 list.
part 5 might be up tonight, if not it'll be another sidelist.
