Take away all the subjective mumbo jumbo, and you basically have the same formula. Lorde only best Carly on the album scale, but even then 3/4 is still enough for the comparisons.
Either way Lorde still has a lot to prove, until Team is a solid top ten hit, that last more more then a couple weeks she'll still be a one hit wonder, no matter what people think the song will do.

Ok just ignore the fact people are interested in Lorde as an artist. That may be subjective but just because its subjective doesn't mean it doesn't hold any truth. Also people show a lot more interest in her other songs on her album while the same can not be said about Carly.

If she's gonna stick around she better become a nicer person. I'm not here for the female Kanye.

Except the things she says holds some truth to them and its her opinion. The things Kanye West says are just absurd half the time, or at least from what I read. Kanye seems to me to just be saying outlandish things to get publicity and attention

LOL NO. When Team touchs the Top 10, it will quickly go to #1 for 3 months

I'm just not getting how you can gauge that when the two's albums were released at completely different times relative to their respective hits' peaks. Imagine if Pure Heroine hadn't been released for another month and a half from now. Do you really think its numbers would have been as impressive?

She's more of a Robin Thicke, whereas Carly actually had a second hit.

It won't but it would still do better if it underwent the same conditions as Kiss did most likely. Do you think people are more interested in Carly as an artist more than Lorde?

Both of them had the equal amount of ATRL fan fare though, people were raving about Kiss on here and talking about how Curiosity and Tiny Little Bows should be a single. If people generally showed any interest in her other songs, why is only Team the only song that is on iTunes selling, and even at 33?
She's still just the girl that sings Royals.

I think, had everything been equal between the two in terms of promo, release dates, etc., they'd be on a lot more equal footing. Lorde would probably still be doing a bit better if only because the GP tends to be more inclined to buy albums from perceived "alternative" artists than from through-and-through pop artists, but the differences in overall sales would be a lot smaller.

On what planet??? I love Carly and that album, but that's not true at all, in any context.
As for Lorde, Team broke the Top 40 this week, so she's officially not a one hit wonder anymore. And Team will go Top 10. Bookmark me.

Taylor doesn't count because she's still technically country.

Actually, according to these (incredibly well thought out and thorough) rules for "one-hit wonderdom" as proposed by Chris Molanphy of The Village Voice, Lorde could still be considered a one-hit wonder after "Team" hit the Top 40, as it's still within six months of "Royals" hitting the Top 10. Only once "Team" reaches the Top 10 will she officially be free of that label. I mean, it probably will go Top 10, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

No, Team and Tennis Court will more than likely smash. I used to think she would but Anyway I still don't use her personality.
Then again, who knows.

Nah, Carly is a singles artist and not an albums artist Pretty sure not many people would be interested in her as an artist when her type of music is already readily available by many other aritsts.

Carly had a 2nd hit? Must be talking about outside the US...
Robin Thicke has also had another hit, so he's not a one hit wonder...

Once again, I don't know how you're gauging that when Carly's album sales were severely affected by its release schedule.
And no one in mainstream pop is making bubblegum anymore. Even the main Disney girls have moved on to club-ready electronic or urban music. Carly's closest adjacents are Cher Lloyd and Bridgit Mendler, and really neither of them struck it big enough for the GP to reject Carly's music as too much like everyone else's.

"Good Time," her song with Owl City and which was released as a joint single from both their albums, went Top 10 in the US. And yes, it did become a hit because of Carly. It's not like the GP was hankering for another song from Owl City.

I'm gauging it by the way people reacted to her music. Shes that "Call Me Maybe" girl.

She might get a couple more hits from this album on the hype of Royals alone but like I said before she won't make it past album #1.
