I think they will hold off Anne for awhile, shes young and probably putting out "bride wars" wont help her chance at impressing voters, seeing Eddie Murphey DESERVED that win for Dreamgirls, but he put out "Norbit" and that obviously was frowned upon by voters.
It's Kate's THIS YEAR!!!!!!!! :-D
Glad THE READER got a nomination for Best Pic! It was truly brilliant! Too bad the boy in it was not nominated, he was so charming!

Totally agree
Im with you
Kate has to WIN this year

I must admit that this year's selection of films is much better than last year's.
So far, I've only seen Slumdog Millionaire, and its much better than Atonement, No Country etc. etc. In fact, the only memorable from last year's Oscar race is "There Will Be Blood" which is obviously a masterpiece.

No Country was so powerful and tense. I can't recall ever being on the edge of my seat throughout the film quite like I was with No Country.
I haven't seen Slumdog, so I can't comment and compare, really, but I doubt it'll be better than No Country, because not very many films are better.

ok, so I got a HUGE question........
Why was REVOLUTIONARY ROAD NOOOOOT NOMINATED FOR BEST PICTURE!???
I saw Revolutionary Road last night....
This movie had the best acting I have EVER seen from both Leo and Kate, She should have been nominated for this over 'The Reader' she was BRILLIANT, and this is Leo's BEST work to date. They both played the unhappy domesticated fake-suburbia family I have ever seen! So raw and real! This movie is just so brilliant. It's haunting, and very sad, but it's such an amazing drama.
RR >>>>> The Reader, in my opinion.

I agree with you, Rev Road is the best I've seen (I've also watched Slumdog, Frost/Nixon, Wall E, Dark Knight, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Bolt, Kung Fu Panda, Iron Man)
Leo and Kate are a-m-azing in it.
These are my scores so far
Revoultionary Road = 10/10
Slumdog Millionaire = 9/10
Frost/Nixon = 8/10
Kung Fu Panda = 8/10
Wall E = 8/10
The Dark Knight = 8/10
Bolt =6/10
Iron Man = 6/10

I agree that "No Country for Old Men " had some very tense moments, but the ending is too disappointing in my opinion. I believe that a film should close with a bang, just like the "bowling" sequence in There Will be Blood, but instead "NO Country for Old Men" ended abruptly.
I can't believe "The Wrestler" wasn't nominated in any of the major categories. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks much more promising than Frost/Nixon.

"And then I woke up"
Ends like Revolutionary Road, if you ask me.

I can't believe Revolutionary Road wasn't nominated for Best Movie. I get they didn't nominate TDK because of a ****ing dumb prejudice to HQ movies, but I really refuse to even try to understand why on earth they would snub RR!
I won't even mention Nolan not being nominated for Best Director. That was STUPIDITY on its highest level. I must say that the movies and also the nominees this year are better than last year's, but if they somehow find a way to not give Kate Winslet an Oscar this time, I swear to God I will never watch this cerimony again.
P.S.: They better give Ledger's the Oscar as well if they don't want to be CRUSHED the day after.

I just watched Doubt. Meryl Streep is amazing in this movie. The quality of all the principal actors is outstanding, Amy Adams or Viola Davis should get the Oscar. Meryl Streep has high chances too, but I think Kate Winslet will finally win. I get they snubbed Revolutionary Road, I mean, it's an AMAZING movie, but, those five movies are also great. Slumdog Millionaire is great, but it is overrated. Benjamin Button should win.
