Exactly, like I mentioned earlier, if an "Official Thread" shouldn't be open, it doesn't have to be open. If the era is dead, close it. If it gets too long, close it and tell them to open a new one. There should be a cap--50 pages? 100? Obviously that wouldn't apply to NHB or PYP.

Eli, the forum looks messy when every single pointless artists has an official thread. We don't need official threads for artists that doesn't have an album out or the era is done, that's why I closed the Christina Aguilera, Hilary Duff, and Jordin Sparks threads.
I'm not totally against official threads, I just feel that only the few artists that are popular around here should have an official thread, of course they need to be promoting something at the moment and it should be only to discuss news. All the stuff like 'OMG, Britney Queen 4Ever, you rule" should go in the group section.

(echoing along?) PR or do something to make the groups more noticed. Make it a tab, button, banner, w/e, put a big shiny halo ring around it? Honestly, I keep forgetting them, because the link to them is in a not so bold place at the top of our forum screen. Otherwise, I like the way things are as is currently. I'd rather scroll through a page of official threads then a bajillion topics about one artist. (*Ahem* "Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga The Fame, Lady Gaga and her muffins, Paris Hilton loves Gaga, NeYo has Ladies Night with Gaga," etc.)

Honestly, I'd say leave it the way it is right now. If it becomes messy, just move it into the groups section.

Idea:
2 weeks (or 1? 3? 4?) after a thread begins in Music News, it gets closed, no matter what. Time to start over.
Maybe that would prevent these threads from growing so huge and out of control and slowing down our forum. Then, if there's new news to report, it can get a new thread. If all that's left is general chatting, it can go in Groups.
Thoughts?

Yes, those threads would be closed, but only if there's some kind of agreement. I mean, let's face it, nobody really knows if any of these ideas will actually work to make the forum better. So, might as well ask around first.

People are not hear to read pointless comments, it's to be with people who love music so if they post for no reason delete it.
