Yes I never really thought about it the way you posed the question, but it's true.
I hate how many people downplay her on here. Just because she hasn't had a major hit in the USA/UK for a few years doesn't mean she isn't one of the most globally powerful artists. Shakira appeals to so many groups across all the continents in multiple languages, often in countries that speak neither English nor Spanish. I don't know of many stars who can say the same thing. The fact that she is one of the most-liked people on Facebook despite the fact that the two biggest markets aren't here for her currently is pretty impressive
Hell to the NO. And remove Bulgaria from the map. She's not big here.

I know she's popular in Europe, but not THAT much anymore, and Africa? C'mon. Just because she made the Waka Waka doesn't mean she's the biggest. Point in fact, the guys from the african country which the original melody of Waka Waka came from wanted to sue her or something, I heard. I don't know anything about Asia, but I don't think she's that big there. So stop the delusion. Gaga is my favorite but not because of that I will say she's a fantastic videomaker.
