i mean, if she was genuinely upset about not being able to release the music she's been waiting to reveal, and wants to start touring soon, i think a mixtape would be a smart idea. in fact, i've been mentioning that idea since i joined! a mixtape is a good way to woo people who don't necessarily care about the artist... that's how i got into cassie and jeremih. their mixtapes were great and jeremih's even spawned a baby hit on urban.

but anyways, if she doesn't care about waiting then i guess she would never release music for free. i think it's smart to release what you've spent so long working on, and then moving on to new projects. re-working the same things over and over again rarely yields great results.

She doesn't seem to be happy with what she's recorded, hence the DM. Idk about her being upset that she can't put it out BC of TIDAL. I honestly don't think TIDAL would stop the BBHMM video from boosting the song if they at least did what Madonna did and put it on VEVO right after. But back to what you were saying, a mixtape would be cool I guess. I just don't see her putting an entire body of work out there for free. Rappers/ lesser known artists can get away with that, but I doubt that Rih could. IMO she could release an EP that includes the three singles + 5 really good songs, scrap the rest, and work on R9. That way, she'd give us new material, she put SOMETHING out, and she can tour. And if it flops, we can call it a side project that doesn't matter as much as a real album.

Based off of that dj's tweets I am expecting the relaunch single in like 2-3 weeks with a preorder and release date and then the album to follow in August I am completely sure this will be a Rihanna smash.

Nope, that was a 2-day update. Besides, most of those overall airplay updates contain monitored stations (on the panel) and unmonitored ones on all formats so the lion's share of the AI gains really comes from Rhythmic/Urban. That being said, a Top5 Pop station and two Top20 ones have added the song so if they play it enough, it will get nice gains on Pop.
