Why is Robin Thicke so popular with black people? How did that start?
Every black friend I've ever had, their mothers LOVE Robin Thicke. Like, 100%
I think it's because
a)He's authentic to black culture and not using it to get ahead
b) He caters to the black community by doing a lot of concerts in black areas with black artists (Mary, Alicia, Jazmine Sullivan, R.Kelly)
c) He's collaborated with a lot of rappers which gives him a "hood pass" (Wayne. 50 Cent, Rick Ross, Tyga, Nicki, Will Smith
d) He has a black wife

I only use the n word around black friends that have made it blatantly clear that they're okay with me saying it as a joke or when I'm quoting song lyrics.
See, if Jameson said *****, i dont even think i'd cringe. Because there is no ambiguity in his intention or what the word means to him. I already feel as though he probably isn't a subconsciously a white supremacist and he probably hasn't got an irrational fear of black people (if he does, at least he's doing something about it by coming in this thread). So I can't really be offended. But most white people I know do, even if their best friend is black and they love black people. So I do get offended.
Yeah how do you guys feel about non-Blacks using the n-word?
I don't necessarily get offended (if it's used in a casual, friendly, non-derogatory manner), but it ALWAYS makes me feel extremely awkward.
I don't tolerate it because the minute they start using it casually it's only a matter of time before they call me one. Happened one way too many times. And i'm not here to be called that word so....... anyone who crosses that line is done to me. I always remind people i'm not a coon
