Task 3:
Promotional & Smear Ads

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE CANDIDATES WHO HAVE MADE IT INTO THE TOP TWELVE!
This week it is all about negative campaigns or also known as attack ads.
In advertisement, attack ad and smear ad are two types of negative campaign which contain messages that are intend to harm the reputation of an individual or a group. These types of commercial have been commonly used in political campaigns between candidates running for office. Time to time consumers would witness this form of advertisement falling beyond the border of politics. Have you recently seen those PC vs. Mac commercials featuring an old male and young male? Did you know attack ads among computer companies have gone as far back as when Apple’s iconic metaphor ad surfaced in 1984. It suggested PC users as groups of controlled and “puppetted” individuals with no mind of their own.
Smear ads are used today in product advertisements to destroy competitors. While this is not the case for all companies but many groups have had their share of attacking other groups, especially when those companies produce the same or alternative products. Trump’s Apprentice would run one of his many companies and showcase his astounding leadership and edgy, creative abilities in front of Trump and workers.
In this task each candidate is assigned one product brand where you must conduct a short research and write a report (50 words) of that company and its product. The fun doesn’t end there! You must also report (50 words) on your company’s competition, thus more research is required. You must also provided one promotional slogan (1-20 words) for your company and one derogative slogan (1-20 words) for your company’s competition.
Private Message 2 reports + 2 slogans to KT&T’s inbox:
Company Name: [insert here]
Slogan: [1- 20 words] [+50 points]
Report: [50 words exactly] [+50 points]
Competitor Name: [insert here]
Slogan: [1- 20 words] [+50 points]
Report: [50 words exactly] [+50 points]
The reports and slogans must persuade the judges (foxaylove, Matty, SiXo, & KT&T) and the public to like your products brand than your competitor’s brand. By REPORT I do not mean boring copied out of somewhere statements about the products but interesting, funny, entertaining, detailed information of the company and the products.
How will the scoring works:
The judges and public votes will decide between your company and your competitor to see who has the better quality product. Each of the 4 judges will select (based on the 200pts system listed above) +1 spin for the winner and 0 for the loser. Hence the make up of 4 judges mean possibility of 800 points and +4 spins. The public will votes (based on the product with the most votes) +1 spin for the winner and 0 for the loser. Thus the grand total is +5 spins. To win and out compete your competitor you need 3 spins out of 5 spins.
There are a total of 7 pairs and battles of company products. Each team member is assigned one company brand and product while the project managers are assigned two company brands and products each. Best out of seven wins! The team that wins 4 out of 7 battles is declared victorious in the task. Good luck to all!
All companies on the left are assigned to team Vendetta and all companies on the right are assigned to team Meridian.
