For yall saying Diamonds can pass Die Young because of airplay since Billboard weighs that the most, I don't think so because the only reason OMN is number 1 is because it has an obscene amount of airplay and an obscene airplay lead against Gangnam Style

Regardless, her sales never truly match up to her airplay figures. Despite having some of the biggest airplay hits with fantastic longevity since she's debuted, she's yet to reach 5 mil without the help of being a feature. Simply put, her airplay to digital sales ratio is not that fantastic.
Does this mean she's a bad seller? No. Is she a major digital threat? Not in my opinion, especially with this song.
She is doing well in streaming but Ke$ha is doing better, so even if she did pass her there, it wouldn't have a large effect as Ke$ha is doing great regardless.
And I highly doubt Rihanna could pass Ke$ha before the promo hits, unless Rihanna has promo herself lined up before then. if she hasn't managed to do it by now with more airplay, then I doubt she'll do it soon.
(And before I get the usual "But Ke$ha has more CHR/Pop airplay and Rihanna's airplay comesfrom formats that don't buy digital music!!" let me say their CHR/Pop airplay is pretty close now, and with the massive inflation Mediabase uses, it's even closer when scaled down to real numbers. Comparing when they were the same, Ke$ha was always doing better. Plus, even if other formats don't result in as much sales, it's better than nothing. I mean, if it were the case, songs exclusive to Rhythmic and Urban formats would never sell, and they do.)

Before people reply with the usual 321 singles you need to realize that first, Rihanna debuted way before the explosion of the digital era. Some of her singles didn't benefit that much from Digital sales like the likes of Kesha who debuted at the right time. Secondly, Rihanna doesn't conform to the standard release of singles. She will release songs exclusively to Urban radio, she will release a single one month after the other which will lead them to steal sales from each other which was the case with OG and WMN and she isn't afraid to take risks and not release the safe easy hit like some of the other girls eg CKB and MD coming after S&M.
And about Radio, Rihanna;s Urban hits will obviously have less sales when compared to Airplay because that is what is the usual for an Urban single nowadays. Take Adorn for example huge Airplay yet he is struggling at the bottom of the itunes chart. And before you come in and say that she also gets CHR/pop airplay, yes she does and ends up selling almost identical to most of Kesha's singles with the same airplay.
Lastly, Kesha should be doing better because she has more Airplay and the safe easy hit. You just can't compare it to the mid-tempo ballad that is Diamonds, But mark my words Diamonds will block her, even though i want both to go #1 and have better longevity.

Plus she always does best on the weekends, yet for the first time this weekend she couldn't get passed Bruno.
But they'll both do well

It's not a surprise K$ is a better digital seller than Rihanna, especially with a song like DY vs Diamonds.

IKYWT would be slaying everyone right now if it had radio support, our favs are lucky she's giving them a break.
Also if promo is done correctly, LOOH, DY, I Cry and Diamonds could all have atleast a week a #1.
Lastly I hope SN gains a huge distance on OMN cause I want it to sneak a week at #1, however I know it will be atleast #2...

Exactly. Both are likely #1s, but pretending like "Diamonds" is light years ahead in airplay is definition of delusional.

LOL. What, she had "PDR," SOS" and "Unfaithful" that were actual hits before digital sales took off? The bulk of her catalog is post-2007, including the 3 albums, 25 singles (not exaggerating) between 2009-2012 alone. Weak argument.

Imagine how much SOS would've sold if sales were like they are now in 2006. It would probably be her best-selling single behind Disturbia and We Found Love, because SOS was huge digitally.
Rihanna's rhythmic and urban airplay is useful for the Hot 100, but it's useless for iTunes. If you find her pop only airplay for each of her songs, then you can start making comparisons.

PSY will be performing at American Music Awards!!! Will he FINALLY get that #1? Or too late by the AMAs?
Also saw in TV commercial that The Wanted, Carly Rae Jepsen, Psy and Justin Bieber are all performing. Good job, Scooter Braun!
