Insidious was a good horror film. The latter part of the film just fell off. It was still executed well and is an enjoyable film with plenty of creep factor. I am looking forward to Chapter 2 and am hoping it is better considering James has been able to soap up the criticism and will hopefully fix what didn't really work.
The Conjuring is looking really good. They tried to get a PG-13 but couldn't because the scares were so intense, not because of gore

"When we sent it into the board they gave us the R-rating," Executive Producer Walter Hamada says. "When we asked them why they basically said, 'It's just so scary. [There are] no specific scenes or tone you could take out to get it PG-13.'"
I haven't seen 'Evil Dead' yet. Where would y'all put it on the gore level?
Pretty great considering they didn't use CGI. The redband trailer didn't give everything away, there's still a lot more gore in it. Limbs get cut and shot off, hands get crushed with crowbars, people get stabbed with everything, and someone has to rip their own hand off when it's stuck under a car. It's all pretty good, except a scene towards the end looks a little ridiculous when
Mia shoves a chainsaw into the Abomination's mouth, because it's obvious she's cutting a mannequin due to it's weird movements.
.
oh, and I saw the new texas chainsaw massacre the other day.......I don't even know where to start with that MESS
Original or remake?
Remake is super overrated.
Original is so ****ed up I can't even sit through the whole thing again. It's so gross and grimy and just feels so snuff-ish. It's all about the vibe of the movie that makes it so just ... *barf*
