The huge amounts of effects and vocals distortions is more aim to fit her voice into the intricate productiion. We hear it more in Brit's higher register because it's naturally more"bubble gum" than others singers.
Unfortunately, most people will come to the conclusion that they did that because she couldn't sing the songs even if it's not the case at all IMO. Except "Inside Out", the rest is not that difficult to sing anyway...
Yet we can't ignore that she gave us her most convincing interpretations since In The Zone.
She seems totally into it.

The Amazing: HIAM, Criminal, Gasoline, I Wanna Go, How I Roll
The Good: TTWE, Inside Out, Trouble For Me, (Drop Dead) Beautiful
The Bad: Big Fat Bass, Seal It With A Kiss, Trip To Your Heart

I give the album 7/10, and while it is definitely a fun album it is nothing life-altering or too amazing. I listened 3 times and am onto something new for the rest of the day. I am relieved it leaked though...the anticipation/tension was getting very stressful

And I think it's a MASTERPIECE. It doesn't matter how good BTW is gonna be, because Femme Fatale is already the ALBUM OF THE YEAR in my eyes. An album so FLAWLESS and MUSICALLY REVOLUTIONARY it could be a Greatest Hits.

I don't know how to feel about Big Fat Bass. On some listens I really like it but then on the next listen I can't even finish listening to it because I feel like it's the same thing over and over again. It's definitely too long.

I like the album a lot, especially How I Roll.

At moments, her voice sounds weird... I agree that some of the songs would suit vocalists better than Britney (Katy, K$, Rih, etc, etc.)
