The only thing reductive about the second half is One More Try tho! Heavenly, Camouflage, Money, Meteorite are all necessities in the arc of the album and career highlights. I mean these are tracks that actually pertain to what was happening to Mariah at the time, if they're reductive what would you call Mariah's other songs?
It would make perfect sense for her 14th and oldest album to be her truest actually. Since that comes with age, confidence, musical maturity, etc. It's her being able to step back and take a look at her career, her marriage, her kids, and come to terms with everything. E=MC2 is also a very free and laidback album. Butterfly is very Mariah but I mean we all know she was still struggling with Tommy n co back then, was still making remixes on the side to better express her artistry, etc
I'm not trying to force you to suddenly love MIAM btw, I just have the need to tug @ the people who come for it
