Sorry this took a little while to respond to! I'm sure you'll be able to understand everything that is happening because the two have very little in common, as far as any continuing storyline goes. The only thing you may be confused about is who the main character is, as you are introduced to him in the first movie. But truthfully, as long as you know that he encountered "the collector" in the first one, that's all you'll really need.

Except for the ending..It progressively got worse as the movie went on

I saw that too a few months back. Pretty bad, but at least I think it knew what it was and didn't try to be anything else. Not so bad just from the slasher side of things.

I'm still upset that
Olivia died first
, but that's not what pissed me off the most, which was the fact that they removed "We're gonna get you, we're gonna get you, not another peep, time to go to sleep" from the movie entirely. It better be on the unrated cut on DVD, or I'm gonna have to kill someone.
I have to wait 13 days though
