Lena Dunham is a trailblazer. She's one of the few women on screen who makes being overweight look cool. Dunham's character is not constantly making her weight a punchline, unlike that obnoxious Rebel Wilson. And Dunham's character isn't trying to use her weight as a selling point, unlike the heavy Katy Perry known as Meghan Trainor. Her shape is just part of who she is, and that's how she plays it. Lena Dunham is a positive, feminist forward-thinking role model, and that's one of the reasons why she's praised and acclaimed. Only ugly, conservative women, and people with very low IQs dislike Lena Dunham.

Birthday was simply not that appealing/catchy to the GP. People could care less about lyrics. End of.
Still I'll give the show a go and just try think of the artist as separate to their work like when I listen to Azealia Banks.
