Now I never said anything about a wig defining an era so I don't know what you're talking about
All I said was that she didn't start wearing lacefronts until NYE, that's all. The PFRR doesn't technically begin until RIM is released on 12/2/11.
It's still the PF era during the VMAs because she released the Fly video and the Fly release date for radio was a week later.
The transition really began that summer, but like I said it was STILL the PINK FRIDAY era, no matter if she was transitioning.
People like to think the crazy outfits were this era but she had MORE in the PF era.
