Have u guys noticed how well Pretty Hurts,Ghost/Haunted , and Drunk in Love work together?
At the end of Pretty Hurts, u can see Beyonce sitting on top of the TV, a symbol of her being superior to the medialized strive for perfection. Seconds later, one can see Beyonces acceptance speech as a young girl in the TV itself, politely doing everything which her parents and the media basically wanted her to do and say. The transition to Ghost, where she argues that she's sick of people and the media manipulating her and the globe basically is just flawfree. It's amazing how she criticizes the media by acknowledging that it's people who r working all the time in order to survive that need to be in focus and need to be helped, not her. In Haunted, the video starts again by Beyonce being shown in the TV. It's as if the I-narrator, who was sitting in front of Beyonce sitting on top of the TV in Pretty Hurts, switched the channel to Haunted. Here, she addresses the media which follows her everywhere and that everything is part of a show. And in Drunk in Love, the video starts with Beyonce walking along the beach with one of the trophees of the Pretty Hurts video which is basically a statement in itself: After all the repression and manipulation of the media, she found what is truly important to her. LOVE. She basically states "Love > Perfection/Trophees/Medial Acclaim". It's just genius.
