The thing is, you're under the impression she will be performing for her usual audience. She won't. She's performing for masc straights who only know that she's that weird ra ra bitch. This isn't the demographic (well, majority of it anyway) that bought her previous hits or even know of her previous hits, this isn't the demographic that tunes in to watch the VMAS, Grammys, and so on and so forth.
To them, You And I will sound better than any of her other hits.
You guys should keep this in mind. This is why I think BTW won't be performed, and JD is questionable.

Imagine for example if she skips BTW/TEOG just so she can perform Applause/PI ? Ew.
And obviously she has to perform something from her new album (most likely PI but I hope somehow the 2nd single is better and becomes more successful so she can sing that) and there's even less space for the BIG ones  |
Katy managed to do 6 songs, not even counting Missy Elliott's 3 songs
If she doesn't let 3-4 minutes of her show get wasted on some unneeded guest act, she can do like 8 songs

Cause in a radio interview she said she would be bringing her collaborators on this album on stage with her. Those include Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker, Bloodpop, FJM and Florence. Only one of those she has a song with that she can actually perform as a duet, and it's Florence.

If the NFL wanted to appeal to 'str8s' they wouldn't have hired her at all, so I don't think NFL will force her water herself down to appeal to the str8s or whatever.

I think Gaga will definitely have a guest. I mean she's spent the last two years singing other people's songs and she's obviously in with the legends and that matters to her. It's not going to change now.

I'm not sure what Lady Gaga you're talking about, but the Lady Gaga we're talking about would never in a million years pass up the opportunity to perform Born This Way in front of a Super Bowl audience. That's literally why she wrote the song, then named her album after it, and made it the lead single.

I'm talking about present Gaga. Joanne era Gaga. I'd love for her to perform the BTW as it's my second fav lead single of hers.  I'm just saying... there's a huge possibility she won't.

There's no way she'll be singing "dont be a drag just be a queen" or "put your paws up you were born this way" in the SB. I think it doesn't need to be explained.
Maybe she just sings the chorus for 15-20 seconds as an interlude or medley.

yeah I don't think anything sis, I just think she SHOULD perform for herself and for us, she should perform her biggest & best songs, hence why I think she should perform both TEOG and You and I and I'd rather her snub the whole ARTPOP and even Joanne, just so she can have the best show.

If she skips Born This Way (and she won't) it will be because she sees the writing on the wall with "Express Yourself" trending worldwide during her performance, not because she's afraid of a bunch of homophobes. Like I can't believe you guys think that of her.

Yeah the song being considered a rip off is another good reason for not performing it. Plus it's not a good song but that's just my opinion.
And I don't think she's afraid of homophobes, it's just that the song doesn't fit in the show.

There is not 1 real argument to state that BTW is not a good song, never have been.
Like  Lyrics are good, the music is great, ATRL is so deluded with thinking this song is bad and that it's not iconic/huge
