Day-Lewis has 3 Oscars, Blanchett/Waltz have 2 Oscars...will Queen Kate have 2 too? Waltz did it with just the one Sag nom/win, while Queen Kate has 2 wins there.

There are only 2 precedents for winning Bafta+Globe then losing the Oscar to someone who won only Sag - Brenda Blethyn (vs. Frances McDormand), and the aforementioned Jennifer Lawrence who really didn't even seem to want to win again.

Anyway good movie, a bit boring but really inspiring (especially for all the people who moved away alone far away from their home and family). I related it to it a lot, even though i'm a guy and it's quite a feminist view.

so I watched all three potential Best Picture winners (Revenant, The Big Short, and Spotlight). I feel like The Big Short was the most entertaining movie, but it doesnt feel like a Best Picture winner. It doesnt have than "Oscar sheen" on it like other previous winners do. I dont think the producers involved were expecting a nomination when they shot it, let alone a potential win. Now, it would be cool if it won, but it would feel anticlimatic. It would prove to be a lackluster year in film if The Big Short wins the most prestigious award.

The Revenant seems more like a film that the Acadamy would go for, but it kinda screams Oscar bait to me. The cinematography reminds me of The Red Thin Line which is cool, but it feels like a "been there done that" sorta film, it doesnt feel groundbreaking at all. The same director won for Birdman last year, which I felt was a more deserving winner than this one, potentially.

Spotlight is shot like a well done made for tv film. The story itself is the most important out of the three, which is why I think it will pull off the win. The Big Short is too much of a dra-medy to win, and The Revanant is too lackluster. There really isnt anything special about Spotlight besides the story.

I wanted a nomination for Creed though, that was the best movie of the year imo. Take it from someone thats not an expert of cinema, I thought it was the best. Still need to see Room, Brooklyn and The Martian to fully decide.

Cate kinda should have 3 Oscars. The Academy gaffed hard in 1999 with Gwyneth Paltrow.
