We weren't talking about Mariah's career we were talking about music in general. You sad noone wants sad music, noone wants dark music, yet Russian Roulette was top 10 in every country and sold over 3 million digital units with minimal support from the US. Noone wants sad music yet anyone here will tell you if Photographs was released today it would be a worldwide hit.

I would prefer what Rihanna wanted to do and not what Def Jam wanted her to do. My point was her career was not ruined, she had a very successful career BEFORE GGGB and "RudeBoy" said they were ruining her career. That was my point.

Russian Roulette had the hype supporting it. Also, the intense promotion, again. Actually, after it made it jump into #9, it started falling rapidly.
Songs like RR do get successful outside the US, it's not like RR was the first one ever.
