Light Years is an incredible. One of her best. The level of songcraft is unparalleled amongst her discovery. It is the mirror image of Impossible Princess, Listening to something like "So Now Goodbye" - it was very obviously an homage (read: ripoff) of The Boss, but the melodies in the verse, bridge, and middle eight are superlative.

"Disco Down" is one of her best, most emotive songs ever. It also plays to her strengths as an interpreter, as no one else would have invested in the lyric as much as she does. Outside of the title track, there is truly no filler on the record. Just an amazing piece of work.

And it's not even in my top three! But respect is due when it's due.

Drag us, king.

It's funny - Fever is definitely more cohesive, but Light Years has so much variety! Who else touches on Moroder/Summer (I Feel Love), Ashford & Simpson writing for Diana Ross (So Now Goodbye), Barry White (Under The Influence of Love) and Abba by way of Erasure (Your Disco Needs You) on the same record?

The four main singles are some of the weakest tracks tbh.

I can agree on the singles being weak Ace, personally I feel that OANLT is one of her weakest hits. Light Years has its' moments. The So Now Goodbye to YDNY run is actually amazing, Under The Influence of Love is a cute cover and Butterfly is campy goodness, but that's only half of the album. Not enough to justify the rest.

Can we get into how Password is better than the other half failed to mention though.

Oh, and when I drag Light Years, it's from a place of love and humour really. I actually think all of her albums are decent/passable at worst.

Ignore Conatus. He's bitter that I have superior taste. I appreciate all the references on Light Years & am grateful for the career revival, but I just can't sit through it and enjoy it the way I can with IP or Km94. Also the title track I Feel Love throwback >>> cruise ship drag queen entertainer Koocachoo and Love Boat.

I live for the campiness, Disco Down is especially amazing. I just think the album as a whole is lacking in quality.

What's amazing is that, from KM 94 to Body Language, she constantly reinvented the wheel. Each subsequent album offered things you didn't know you needed from her. She's lost that recently.

But in all seriousness I hope you all didn't drag Bittersleep Goodnight too badly, it's easily the best vocal she did on LY & better than any on Fever.

On that note, which song do you feel she has her best studio vocal on throughout her entire discography? I'd like to say Confide or Put Yourself In My Place. Vocalie really slayed that album.
