Miguel - Kaleidoscope Dream
Released - September 25, 2012



Predating this PR&B trend, Miguel made R&B kewl and hipstery without sacrificing any of the lyrical and production qualites that make R&B so good. Its a smooth album but still manages to have a lot of diversity. The songs have that perfect mix of sensual modernism and throwback nostalgia.

Grizzly Bear - Shields
Released - September 17, 2012



Just.. there best album. No questions about it! Solid work of indie-rock that is lyrically compelling yet sonically pleasing. Can't really say much other than personally this has been one of those albums that just defines a moment/chapter of my life.

I didn't do a list of them but, "Yet Again" is one of my favourite songs of the decade.

HAIM - Days Are Gone
Released - August 5, 2013



That release date makes so much sense considering how summery this album is. I was not born in the '80s BUT I imagine for people who did experience that decade, this album would bring them back to it. The nostalgic-ness is infectious and HAIM are just an all-around incredible band in everything they do. #1 artist/band/whatever that deserved to be way way more successful.

Interesting that they were my #1 album of 2013 though yet only place at #18 here.

Todd Terje - It's Album Time

Stunning, perfect, art, joyful, it's a masterpiece in musical form. So many great songs so many great emotions and barely 6 minutes worth of words spoken.

New classic.

Frank Ocean - Channel ORANGE
Released - July 10, 2012



I was ready to write this off as over-hyped but its actually very deserving of all the accolades. There are a lot of quirky but honest and relevant lyrical topics and Frank hits them all out of the park. Many of the songs have so many layers to them it just keeps things feeling fresh.

Everybody picking Pyramids as their fave - I choose "Thinkin Bout You" and "Super Rich Kids".




Can't wait for what he brings next!

Next time I'll start with an artist that many of you hate and then redeem myself with a band that basically everybody loves.

Also the best album by a teenager this decade and TAYLOR (+ someone I want her to collaborate with).

Honey, you need to make a list so I don't have to dig through pages on this goddamn server.

Your 40-36 update was not the tea for me, but 35-31 hit the spot. 4, Devotion, and Visions are all splendid. I enjoy listening to all three of those albums all the way through.

Bloom suffers from some same-ness in its songs, but it's still good.

I liked Same Trailer, Different Park, I just wish Kacey felt a little more passion. She's a little too deadpan in her delivery sometimes. Her vocal limitations exacerbate the issue, but I need some more zing!

Take Care, Speak Now - Yas, slay, iconic.

Days Are Gone was my #1 of 2013, also. You'll just have to wait and see where it places on the decade list

Sorry but Teen Dream is so so so much better than Bloom.

I do think that The Idler Wheel and Matangi are two of the best albums this decade tho.
