If anything, these positive reviews are working exactly as Gaga and her team had hoped they would, I'm sure. They're reviewing the album, liking what they hear, and then from that make a positive judgment on her.

Still, it's too bad they don't count for MC

Yay for The Times

Just looked again at The Guardian review, and the comment section is so promising:

Dunno anything about this CD...but I saw a superb vid of her singing a standard tune before..was that with Tony ? I forget , terrific singing and funny/entertaining delivery . This CD could be ace .

Mmm...so, thats gaga in the accompanying photo? Looks more like 70s era Linda Ronstadt. I have a lot of respect for Lady and Tony...

Like many, I dismissed GaGa as a techno pop fad. I was shocked at how good she sings in the duets album she and many other stars did with Bennett a while ago. I now actually respect her early work--I may not buy it--but I respect it because she did it by choice, not limitations. She and Bennett are in my short list of the greatest singers I have heard.

I'll be honest, I had Lady Gaga down as a fad reliant on auto-tuning - tho I loved Bad Romance. I haven't heard Speechless so I think I need to check that out. And I will certainly need to check out this CD too.

Lady Gaga can really, really sing. I recommend looking up her live performance of "Speechless" online, it's very good.

Also, no reference to Tony Bennett should be made without mentioning his personal integrity in dealing with racial segregation - refusing to accept it in the US Army (and getting demoted to graves detail as a result) and playing only concerts that were open to people of all races at a time when that was not the norm in some cities. An honourable man.

The second paragraph of the final comment is really interesting as well.

Hopefully this gets good scores from The Observer and The Independent too so they can snag that market.
