If y'all don't have this book yet, it's the BEST book on Michael that I've ever read. A serious, respectful look at Michael through his adult solo albums. The recording of each album is discussed, the cultural context in which each album was born is discussed, it talks about what Michael had going on at the time each album was made (but in terms of how it affected the content of his work, not for sensational purposes), each album's reception, its legacy, and then each song on each album is explored. It's so well done and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Plus it has great things to say about Dangerous, my favorite Michael album.

Also does anyone know if they are still doing Dangerous 25. I heard it was supposed to be coming out later this year but I also heard that something called Off The Wall 2015 was coming out too. What's the info?

Oh yeah, you'll love it then. Each album from Off The Wall through Invincible gets its own chapter. Even Blood on the Dance Floor.

And I have been here for a Dangerous 25 since they did Bad 25 Let his 90s material get the attention it's been so unfairly denied

She was a reporter sent to cover the trial, who went in like most who took a mainstream media view of MJ presuming guilt, and her recount of what happened is actually so shocking. The media twisted everything to make it seem he would be convicted unanimously because it sent ratings through the roof.

It is! That's where I bought it.

It's crazy how Thriller is supposedly his best album yet it's unreleased songs are actually pretty terrible. The unreleased songs from Bad and Dangerous are miles better with the exception of Carousel.

OTW is clearly in production hell. Spike Lee was supposed to be making a documentary for the 30th anniversary last year but it never happened.

Recently a lot of Dangerous concert stills from awesome shows in Japan where Michael performed Bad songs have leaked which makes me hope Dangerous25 may be happening...

I really hope so. I've been seeing a post on instagram about Dangerous 25 coming out so i'm really hoping for it. Dangerous had some really great unreleased songs from what i've heard on youtube so far. Also Dangerous might be a tad more remembered than Off The Wall.

I think in the US Off The Wall is more remembered and outside the US Dangerous takes the prize, but both are heavily cited albums that appear on "best ever" lists all the time.

To be honest, I want a HIStory re-release more than anything else, but I'd take a Dangerous25 in a heartbeat. The Sony deal ends in 2017, so there's likely two major releases albums-wise to come:

A re-release of a studio album, most probably Dangerous (in 2016)
A new posthumous album with 8-10 tracks remastered/remixed (in 2017)

I imagine they'll renew their deal with the MJ Estate though.

I wouldn't even rank Thriller in my Top 3 Michael albums. I'd say it's

1 | Dangerous
2 | Bad
3 | HIStory

And that's not to disparage Thriller or his other albums. I don't believe Michael made a bad album as an adult artist. I just think his music got better, more interesting, more challenging and complex and idiosyncratic, as time went on.

I would really like that Dangerous 25 but I don't know about a new posthumous. I actually didn't like Xscape very much. Not only because of the remixes but they took the majority of them from musically his worst era, Invincible. Sorry but even as an MJ fan the only songs I use off of that album are Rock My World, Butterflies, Unbreakable, and Break Of Dawn.

I don't think we'll get a HIStory re-release though. I don't think it was big enough that enough people will feel nostaglic about it enough to buy it.

True. Lyrically and artistically HIStory is actually his best album. He definatly grew as a songwriter and an artist but because that happened his music also started to lose commerical value.

I always try to rank MJ's albums but I just can't do it. They are all too great but as of right now my ultimate favorite is Bad.
