Is there some truth to what I said though? A HIT dog WILL holler.
Not really, and even if it were it had nothing to do with being an ICON. Plenty of legends and ICONS aren't original. Your point? Janet tarnished whatever legacy and ICON status she had whereas Beyoncé continues to build her brand. There is really nothing to debate.
But didn't one of her first albums have a feature featuring Michael?
Michael and Marlon did background vocals on Dream Street. The shade is that's her LOWEST selling album to date. The public was NOT here for Janet riding coattails, she had to do it on her OWN.
Beyonce has more Grammys, more money, better film opportunities outside of Tyler Perry films & has time to continue touring in stadiums and arenas to outdo Janet's debut tour gross that Janet herself can no longer top.
What do film opportunities mean if you can't actually act?
Janet's performance in Good Times is better than any of Beyonce's "acting".
Actually, I just read an article on here that Beyoncé sold 75 million in her 4 solo albums. She's pretty close to pass Janet if she keeps on that trajectory.

It still doesn't take away from Janet's impact...but to each it's own. I ain't saying nothin' else.
