Okay so I am well aware that my opinion on this whole situation may not mean much as I am not black so I've been debating whether or not I should share. But I will anyway.
First of all, anybody who doesn't see the problem with what Justin said must either be very blindly stanning or is terribly uninformed and/or misinformed on so many things that I wouldn't even know where to begin. While I agree that attacking and slamming Justin is not the answer, he does not deserve to be given a free pass for what he said (the we are all the same part). I understand that Justin had no bad intentions by anything he has said throughout any of this, but that's not excuse for being ignorant and therefore this SHOULD be addressed and he should have to suffer the consequences, whatever they may be-- but nobody deserves to be harassed and bullied online. Not me and not you nor somebody just because they are a celebrity.
Moving on... I see absolutely nothing wrong with Justin's initial Tweet. I myself felt very inspired by Jesse's speech and as I said before I'm not even black. The person who replied to his Tweet is just an overly dramatic "SJW" in my opinion, even if he made any valid argument. What the main, and my opinion
sole issue here is Justin's response to them:
"The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation." If you do not see anything wrong with this then maybe that's because you have to step back and take a good look at yourself to see where your perception and judgement are flawed first. Of course we are all the same. We're all human beings, we all feel the same emotions and yes, we all do equally matter. There's nothing wrong with believing or saying that because it's the truth. Saying that "we are all the same" in a general manner is one thing. But unfortunately, we
aren't all treated equally nor have we ever been. And it's there in which lies the problem. It's all about the context in which something like that is being said. It's the context in which Justin, a straight white male, is saying in response to to a gay black male. Now that's honestly sickening, and like I said before, if you defend it or if you don't see what is wrong then so God help you.
And with that, have a blessed day.
