i think so too, she give her up way to easily.i think alex dad was probably undercover or/and was using her to get information on other terrorist act and stuff. she was most likely was using him as well. By undercover i mean his mission was her and him being abusive was probably part of him doing his job. i think there ( alex dad and mom) whole relationship nothing but an act. i think liam is part of it as well, and at least one other person is involved,
second scenerio, she marry him as her way to get close to FBI (keep your friend close and your enemy closer) and he later, over long period time found out she is terrorist and has gotten a lot leverage on him over their marriage and he can't really do much, which causing him to drink and be violent knowing she will end his respectful career and ruin both his and his daughter life.he stay cause he want to protect his country and his daughter until things. got too much and that night when he pulled a gun on her was probably when he found the whole truth about her and her plans.Liam somehow get involved in this whole mess and he is currently trying to protect her or is on the act.
Saying Alex' mom was the terrorist doesn't mean she was the one on site with the bomb. In this kind of situation it's clear that the terrorist wasn't alone. I just think she was the mastermind and she had someone on site doing the dirty work.
Why did Simon have to say that Alex "gave him no choice" after he alerted the police if he was going to help her escape? Why could he not have told her about his "plan" beforehand?

Because he was betraying her and then the gun came out so he had to switch the plan.
Yeah I hate how everyone is like "well we have to we have to implicate you if we're gonna help you." I just don't see how it's helping her image at all.

How can Alex be the smartest trainee and fall for all of this?

He should have told her before hand, but I guess it was just for the shock to the viewers
Simon knew there were security cameras, yet they went in the building anyway?
