During Orientation Week/The 1st Week:
1. Join a club/attend club fair.
2. Leave your dorm room door open when you're in there just chillin'. It suggests your open for random conversations/visitors.
3. Attend all the recommended Freshman events. Even if only for a little while.
4. Explore the other floors in your building, everyone is looking for friends, trust and believe.
5. Don't be afraid to strike up random conversations with people you don't know.
Avoid staying in your room too much in the early weeks. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there!

I can't emphasize #2 ENOUGH. Pleasseeee leave your door open. Not only will it help you find friends but it will also help you weed out the people you don't want anything to do with. Believe me.
Also be aware that the "friends" you make within the few weeks probably won't be your friends. I didn't solidify my group of best friends until December of my freshman year, and even then that's pretty early. Some people don't find their good group of friends until sophomore year even. Not saying you won't meet great, compatible people during the first few weeks, just be aware everyone is pretty fake those weeks and those interactions are pretty superficial. Everyone is nervous and trying to make friends and find their groups so it can make people act pretty outside their ordinary selves, just be aware. Take it day by day, don't trust too easily and you should be fine. You'll know when you meet those people who you really click with.
My schedule is:
Political Philosophy
Comparative Politics of Ethnic Diversity
African Diaspora
Intermediate German 201
I'm probably going to declare a Political Science major in the fall. I have to if I want to study abroad my junior year.
