This song was a bit of a dud in Ariana's almost flawless singles run. The song felt like a generic EDM banger and wasn't anything special, unlike the other singles. But as usual, even the most generic stuff gets stuck in my head cuz they're so catchy. So I loved it quite a biT for some time before I got bored.
I'm quite surprised that their returning with new music so quickly. Centuries, the lead single, is not too bad. It's a perfect punk rock track that blends right in their discography. It might be just me, but I find the song a bit safe. As the lead single, I was hoping for something more different. Something that showed their shift in direction for the album or something. But oh well, it's a good song nonetheless.

But no, this song and basically whatever Jack is doing is giving Nate a run for his money. This song rivals fun. in terms of quality. This song is such an anthem. It's also perhaps catchier than any fun. song.

I missed out on Let Me Down Gently, so this was the first new La Roux song I heard and I loved the change in sound. The heavy electronics and synths in her/their debut album made me feel a bit sick of their songs, but this light summery feel is so addictive. Ultimately I got bored of this song though as I thought the hook wasn't very great. Thankfully the album is so much better than this song.

The lead single of The Pinkprint sees Nicki go back to a slower tempo and minimalistic production. The production is a bit like Royals, but I think it's great for Nicki as it has an organic sound that is interesting for Nicki. The lyrical matter is deeper too and Nicki raps with confidence and sings with fragility. It's truly an underrated song.

This song is basically different from the original so it's futile to compare. Both Bey and Nicki take their braggadocio to the next level in this song. Bey is spitting bars, and I love the line about the whole elevator incident. Tell em B! And Nicki gives her all too which is amazing.
The first song I've heard from them. It's was instant love when I heard it. This song had the perfect chillout indie pop vibe and was so easy to listen to. It made me really interested in their music and I'm glad I went to check out more after this.

After the sweet and cute Boom Clap, we get a middle finger from Charli. Break the Rules is the punkish, defiant song that Charli promised. It's a catchy song and gets me really pumped up with that chorus, though the instrumental breakdown is a bit underwhelming. Oh and it has like the most relatable line ever, "I don't wanna go to school", like, who doesn't relate?!
In the next set:
- TWO artists in this set will be in the next set.
- The lead single of this very controversial artist who made a comeback.
- An artist who lives in ice shelters in down under.
