What's the story of the song
Because Andersonville is not only a little historian civil war village, It was also the biggest prison camp in the south. In that camp (ironically headed from a German) was also a massgrave for the Yankee prisoners, they died there like nothing before in history and was later only surpassed by the concentration camps in the Third Reich.
