For me, not only did I start living on my own, but I did it while moving to a whole new country. You will be fine. Just know that your parents/friends will always be there for you if you need anything. Once you get the hang of paying the bills/rent, and buying groceries, there isn't much to it at all.. It's very straightforward I feel.
Now, owning a house however.. that feels scary

Minimum wage in BC is $10.25 while here in Alberta its $9.95 (but it goes up regularly every year anyways by like 20 cents.)

They haven't changed the Minimum wage here in 4 years... so it's some nice news.. it's 10.25 currently
