Stop trying to bring down the iconic
Strangers.
The director wrote it from his own experience of a time in his childhood when people were knocking on random doors in his neighborhood to see if anyone was home and burglarize the house. He also said reading the story about Charles Manson and murdering the Tate family at random was inspiration, that there didn't need to be a motive.
Them's premise is nothing comparable to that to be ripped off from, imo. And neither, obviously, are the first films to feature mysterious characters killing people off. Difference is most end with corny reasoning for the killings, some predictable twist, etc.
