Praise this masterpiece and let's hope she can gets back on track to exploring her creativity this era.
10 years ago I was a sophomore in high school for undergrad.
This album was her college experimental phase and I loved the creativity and diversity. There is no other album that I will connect to just based on pure timing of it all.
I need a good vibe like In the zone had. There was an adventurous, free spirit ready to take on the world thing that will never be recapture but there is a soul to this record that needs to reappear. Not a tortured one like Blackout but a taking control...her 8th album needs to pick up where her 4th album left off. Hopefully she will recognize the 10 year mark.
Now, 10 years later 3 degrees obtained and a full fledged career and I still get nostalgic reminiscing on this era. her interviews were less contrived and everything was on point:
I shall never grow tired of Toxic and Showdown (slept on classic that I will never removed from my now playing stat on ATRL),
Toxic and it's one of a kind, classic dance pop realness.
Showdown with its perfect blend of dancehall groove with electro pop beats.
Breathe on me, The answer, Early mornin' remind me of being in clubs and lounges living it up
Everytime and Shadow reminds me those introspective Sunday hangover rainy days where I just thought about mistakes and break ups and sht.
Don't hang up and Touch of my hand reminds me of those in between relationship times...I won't go any further.
Brave new girl reminds me of the freedom of being a young adult that segways into real adulthood making mistakes and just embracing the good with the bad.
The hook up is cute...one of those forgettable nights that you just can tell was worth it at the time.
Me against good music was a disappointment but it has grown on me...like a fungus. The first time I ever like the performances more than the video and song. Outside of Oops VMAs.
I remember Outrageous was a track on the album as well and that a song name Chaotic exists.
I hope as Britney fans you can have an album that you can look back on and not only just like but it can be one of your definitive albums of your life. An album that for some reason related to one of the most significant moments in your lives. In the zone was that for me.
You can call me crazy all you want but I still have an attitude about the Kevin situation. I saw one look and knew how that was going to end. Remembering the conversations with my college friends about how she was rebelling. Remember the tv shows (showbiz tonight deeming it an I told you so wedding)...I need to let it go but I don't know how. That's a whole other issue.
Anyways, outside of just liking the music I truly hope that you real fans can have an album (whether we like it or not) that captures your youth or a significant period of your life. I look back at the fact that I just entered 9th grade when she blew up in 1999. She really was the first superstar of MY generation and the first person that I saw rise, hit a peak, get backlash, fall and soar back like a phoenix and it's all an american story that transcends pop culture but it was predestined to happen.
Some Madonna fans have
Some Michael fans have Thriller/Bad
Some Janet fans have Rhythm nation/Control
Some Mariah fans have Butterfly/glitter (shade) It's a good album and I stand by that
Some Celine fans have a specific album
Some Whitney fans have the bodyguard
Some Prince fans have Kiss
Some Usher fans have 8701/Confessions
Some Justin fans have his first two albums inspired by Britney
Some Pink fans have Missundastood
Heck, Even Christina fans have Stripped. Bless their hearts.
I have In the zone and there is not a day that goes by that I don't look back at that era and smile about the happiest time of my life.
For that I am grateful for Britney to provide me with a soundtrack to my young adulthood.
P.S. I mean btch really, you couldn't put Guilty and I just begun having my fun, DFA. I understand the conflict of having Guilty (the immature yet truthful song) with Everytime the adult answer. At least could have had I just begun having my fun replace that song from R. Kelly. DFA could have been a bonus track with the answer. And btch really, as soon as I am in a dreamworld with Everytime you have to wake me up like an alarm clock with that turnt up MATM remix. I mean I digress
Dealt with a masterpiece but could have had the following:
Fun dancey stuff
1. Me against the music...whatevs
2. I got that boom boom
Sultry, trancey, vibey
3. Touch of my hand
4. Breathe on me
5. Early mornin
Dancehall chill vibe
6. showdown
7. The hook up
Adventurous, futuristic thriller
8. Toxic
9. I just begun having my fun
Introspective, artistry
10. shadow
11. everytime
Free spirit energy
12. Brave new girl
Bonus track with the ITZ DVD:
Urban experimental realness
The answer
DFA
Guilty just so we know what Britney was really feeling when she was first upset.
Side note: The fact that toxic lyrics has 17M views...for a 10 year old song. EPIC.
Always an elaborate dissertation on each record.

"Breathe on Me" and "Touch of My Hand" are two of the greatest tracks of her entire career - and I firmly believe that the former is the best song she's ever made.
