I think Madonna (the album) is better than Confessions. Though a lot of us are attached to Confessions because we weren't there to experience Madonna at the time... makes sense? Also, the tour.
Personally (and I expect a flaming war to ensure) I think Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light and American Life are better... and, from what it sounds like, MDNA too.
