It is.
The production, the lyrics, her delivery, her emotion, the storytelling.
It had EVERYTHING going for it.
It was SUPPOSED to not only be a timeless classic but a song that any teen star that needed a blueprint of coming of age transition from girl to woman would use it as a reference.
It was SUPPOSED to be a song that any girl going in her womanhood would relate to universally.
However, she went against Clear Channel to get more money for her tour and they screwed her.
It's a cult classic because any person from that generation (I would know) KNOWS that song and even the generation behind it knows it somewhat.
But a 10 year old nor a 60 year old would know about it the way they would know about Toxic, Baby one more time etc.
As a result it's a cult classic for those that grew up in the 00s.
Honestly, I wonder if it was worth it. On one hand she became the first and youngest celeb to top forbes which their choice which is in the history books; however, with radio support the album would have had 5 singles and gone 6x platinum at minimum with a chance of 7x eventually.
I guess it was worth it but I would have loved if they released Lonely, Cinderella or possibly that's where you take me as closer singles.

This is taking away from GH:MP and TSC.
But it's the presence she has in walmart and other stores that don't promote her other GHs.
So it's a win win.
The truth is that TSC should have never existed and they should have used 3 to re-release circus and then close with unusual you.
2x platinum album.
255k of those US sales alone could have been allocated to the GHMP and/or playlist to give one 2x platinum status or the other closer to gold status
Let's shame the REAL problem (TSC's existence)

It's actually the first song(sans BOMT) that I loved of Britney's
I HATED it in 1999 but I love it now.
For all the cheese of 1999 I wonder if it would have been a cute lil single.
Still think that
BOMT
Sometimes or BTMUH
Crazy remix
BTMUH or Thinkin about u
would have served 15x platinum realness

Yep and the other compilation albums have also sold well. Not surprised since I always see them at stores.
That's the point. It's about presence and she makes money off the albums that include Everytime and Me against good music so
Why do you all continue to avoid the truth in that her Not a girl performance at SNL is her best.
The way she had this cocky smile at the end knowing that she finally had a flawfree performance of not a girl. Her lower register was amazing.
All the other not a girl performances SANS mtv live are great but she usually misses a note.
AMAs she missed the first note but killed the rest.

The hook on EMH and the final lines were my favorite thing from Britney, along with IWSLY and BTMYH. I didn't grow to love ...BOMT as much as I do now till like recently. I still stanned for it, it just wasn't my fave on the eponymous album.
Lucky was my favorite on OIDIA. I used to stay up late at night and hurt for Britney while wondering why she cried
yeah tbh
I didn't much love the BOMT album until 2008 when i understood that it was actually a good album just not as good as her great albums
in 1999 the only songs on the album i listened to were BOMT, sometimes, crazy, e-mail my heart, thinkin about u, beat goes on and from the bottom.
Bie's favorite song I don't use
I hated soda pop (outside of that one note she hit), born to make u happy, i will be there.
I love all three now
used to love beat goes on but now its boring to me
IWG and TTWE especially while may not be as good or unique as some of her previous hits are iconic and have become known as Britney classics to the GP. TTWE is the definition of a song someone can dance/workout/clean the house/blast the radio with the windows down with
I'd say I I I wanna go o o ( I'm still feeling some kind of way how it was originally that and they shortened it) is novelty and for the moment in the best sense.
TTWE is not novelty. It is her last classic song. WB was barely iconic and not classic.
TTWE is solid but that's just it. It's solid.
LITERALLY Kesha could have slayed that song as a hit.
TTWE is the walking signpost for generic, formulaic, classic dance pop. I'm not taking anything away from that.
Here are her undeniable classics.
I have levels.
Some are timeless classics. Some are just classic. Some are cult classics for a specific generation.
TTWE to me fits in the classic category. However when comparing her Timeless classics and s classic song like TTWE you see the difference
Timeless classics-
Baby one more time
Oops...yes both classic AND timeless. I've seen the light
Slave
Toxic
Gimme more
I'm just going to say it Piece of me (Try me if you want to )
Circus
Classic TTWE
The lowhanging fruit to me is TTWEs. I see Baby one more time to gimme more as the top then Piece of me and Circus in the middle and then TTWE is the one that barely made the cut. these songs are almost undeniably classic (arguments can be made for Piece of me/Circus/TTWE but they barely made the cut)
Everytime and womanizer are classics too but I wanted to focus on TTWE to prove a point.
Then you have her cult classics for which a specific generation knows these songs as classics but people outside of it might not know it as much
i.e. sometimes, crazy, lucky, stronger, not a girl, me against good music, if u seek amy, radar, 3, hold it against me, work btch

BOMT, Toxic, and TTWE are her three certifiable classics. All from three different stages of her career
They are all classics but you just made my point.
BOMT...Toxic...TTWE...one of these things are not like the others.
I always considered Circus, POM and TTWE low hanging fruit on her list of classics
It's weird the songs that i used to loathe I love
BOMT- Soda pop, born to make u happy, i will be there
OIDIA-One kiss from you, lucky, Oops..
Britney-Cinderella, that's where you take me
In the zone-N/A except brave new girl (mainly for the chorus)
GHMP: Do somethin
Blackout-N/A.
Circus-Lace and leather
FF-Inside out, Drop dead basic, Big fat waste, salefish
waits for album #8
The only songs that I loathed then and still do are
Can't make you love me
Me against good music
Out from blunder
Kill the mites
Tell me what ur sippin on
My baby...ha halitosis
only 6 songs and one wasn't even officially released.
