There is nothing amazing about the production of the song though,( a few light guitars, claps, small bass) I mean nothing ground breaking about its production. If anything it sounds like a flutes toned-down criminal (production wise).
I'm not completely against him, I just think he is completely overrated by the Britney fans.

100% Agree, you know there is a problem when the only thing of note in his discography is something done over a decade ago. It's not like he has stopped producing, he has produced steadily since Ray Of Light, Britney fans are resting on his past laurels, that he has failed even with Madonna to reproduce.
And I adore Masterpiece, but let's be real it's a basic ballad, that anyone could do. It's hardly anything that would make me call him up as a producer, and the lyrics as you said are what makes the song so special, not the neither here nor there production.
I'm not against him, but I'm not here for him either. His only production since Ray Of Light that has been anything to write home about is Katie Melua's "Flood". One of the insiders on Popjustice (and no not another extraterrestrial
"(Drop Dead) Beautiful is the 5th single" types), who works in the industry, got to hear one of the demos he produced for FF, and said they were "alright, but nothing special". An d that just about sums up most of his work for the past decade, even his own albums have been critically panned "toofunny2:
