Having already played a pretty-in-pink blonde who can do it all in 2001's Legally Blonde, it makes perfect sense that Reese Witherspoon (the woman who made an icon out of Elle Woods) would be spearheading a new movie in the name of another pretty-in-pink blonde who can do it all: Barbie.
The Oscar winner has acquired the rights to the 2010 book by Robin Gerber, Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World's Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her—according to The Tracking Board. In its impending Hollywood adaptation, Witherspoon and her producing partner, Bruna Papandrea, will be telling the story of Ruth Handler, the woman who created the international toy phenom—and how her daughter, Barbara, served as inspiration.
