Jennifer Lopez's new video for "I Luh Ya Papi" objectifies men the same way music videos have been objectifying women for years. In the skit that begins the video, J.Lo and her friends comment on the unfair gender imbalance in music videos, and then imagine what a video would look like with the roles reversed. "Why can't we for once objectify men?" her companion asks the director.
The resulting music video borrows classic imagery and shots from some of the most notoriously sexist music videos, as well as her own history (her outfit at the beginning is an obvious reference to her 2000 Grammys dress). But here, washboard abs replace big boobs. ******* packages are featured instead of shaking asses. It's very undignified, but it's fun! Here are some GIF comparisons, for reference.
