Yeah definitely. Fashion! sounds very in line with the sound that was popular last year and earlier this year (it's already dying out though). Very funky, very disco-influenced. It could've been a smash.
This is the problem with Gaga taking 2 years to finish an album. It has no essence of what's trendy in pop music at the moment when she finally decides to release it. I honestly think that's why Rihanna is holding off on her album . . . pop music is in another transitionary phase atm, and if she were to release now, she wouldn't be able to capitalize as well as she was able to do with Diamonds and We Found Love.
I really hope with her next pop release, Gaga spends no more than 6 months working on it and releases ASAP. The only way she can bounce back from the ARTPOP era is if she capitalizes on the current or budding trends and get a hit that radio and the GP can really embrace. (It would also be nice if she could work with some professional producers and songwriters, but whatever). A stripped album could also be huge for her, something in the vein of 21 - raw and emotional, but still catchy and marketable.
