CHEESY singer Christopher Maloney is being powered towards glory in this weekend’s X Factor final — by an army of NANS.
Grey-haired fans turned out in force for his homecoming gig in Liverpool last night.
And many are believed to be voting for Christopher, 34, who is show supremo Simon Cowell’s worst nightmare to win the ITV contest.
Christopher performed in front of 1,500 people at the Liverpool Empire.
A large majority were pensioners — with insiders claiming the average age of the audience was 82.
Fans of Maloney, who has been supported throughout the contest by his 76-year-old gran Pat O’Brien, had to give their age when applying for free tickets.
An insider said: “He’s a favourite of the older generation, but we were amazed by how many pensioners wanted to support him at his gig.
“It seems a lot of them are also spending their pension voting for him — and he could win the show off the back of them.”
Maloney, whose mentor is Gary Barlow, has been mocked online with a fake debut album called Songs For Me Nan. If he wins, Cowell fears it will wreck the show’s credibility.
Insiders also believe people who hate Cowell are voting for Christopher.
Bookies William Hill cut his odds to win from 4/1 to 10/3. But he is behind rivals Jahmene Douglas at 6/5 and James Arthur 5/4.
Last night James had a gig in Middlesbrough. Today Jahmene will perform in Swindon.
Not Christopher getting an army of nans to support him. And their average age is 82
So basically it's the battle between young vs. old voters

That can't be real. I didn't know his fanbase went that old.
Besides James, the only other thing I'm looking forward to this weekend is seeing the voting stats. I want to know far ahead Chris was from everyone else.
Why couldn't there have (at least) been one fun person in the finale?
I think James is talented, but he doesn't seem all that interesting to me.
Jahmene doesn't really intrigue me either and Christopher is just...

Same. I want to see the voting stats, and I also want to see who the judges and hosts thought would win.
But I am cringing at the mere thought of my King Gary duetting with Christopher. It's like a bad nightmare
guess we finally have confirmation of the demographic voting for chris maloney

The talent show finalist appeared at the Liverpool Empire yesterday (December 4) with mentor Gary Barlow in front of 1,500 fans.
Insiders have claimed that the majority of fans in attendance were pensioners, including Maloney's 76-year-old gran Pat O'Brien.
Fans were asked to provide their age when applying for free tickets, with the average age said to be 82, according to The Sun.
"He's a favourite of the older generation, but we were amazed by how many pensioners wanted to support him at his gig," said an insider.
"It seems a lot of them are also spending their pension voting for him - and he could win the show off the back of them."
Further insiders have previously claimed that Maloney was not just receiving votes from his home city of Liverpool.
James Arthur has also returned to Middlesbrough for a homecoming gig, while Jahmene Douglas will perform in Swindon tonight.
Maloney will battle it out with Douglas and Arthur for this year's X Factor crown on ITV1 at the weekend.
Are Y'all ready for the finals, for this weekend... I AM NOT READY to see Christopher win, I have to prepare myself mentally.
And I literally am stanning for the Risk, they sang a song called Walking on Water the other night, it's Club Electro Dance Track with a Dubstep breakdown with a rap by Ashford & Derry...
Ash & Andy are so HOT
I can't believe I'm exactly what I hate about the directioners
Christopher Maloney’s nan has been getting death threats after her latest appearance on The X Factor 2012.
While it’s bad enough that some viewers are sending threatening messages to Chris himself, the attacking of his nan is just simply indefensible.
Speaking to Reveal magazine this week, Chris said he and his nan have been trying to ignore the messages sent by crazy fans of the show.
“I never thought being on a TV show could warrant death threats,” he said. “The most recent threat was from someone saying they were going to hunt my Nan down and kill her.
“It is frightening, but we try to ignore it, otherwise we’ll be paranoid and looking over our shoulder all the time.”
Chris previously claimed the judges have made him a target after “ganging up” on him with their comments.
He said: “They are making me out to be a pantomime villain and I’m not. I’m just a genuine normal guy from the backstreets of Liverpool that’s done nothing like The X Factor in my life.”
Christopher went home to see his nan and family in Liverpool earlier this week at his homecoming party with mentor Gary Barlow. Speaking about his homecoming yesterday, Chris said he was left in tears by the amount of support from locals.
Chris, who performed for more than 2,000 fans at the Liverpool Empire, said: “It was absolutely fantastic, the city of Liverpool came out and I’m so proud to be from the north west.
“They were brilliant. There was tears, it was emotional, I haven’t been back home of months.”
Ok now we know he will use that to gain some sympathy vote, if he wasn't sure to win now he can
