I'm reading now! I've always enjoyed Rich Juzwiak's commentary and his review for Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse (takes a breath) was a standout. He also made the iconic Celine Dion is Amazing video on YouTube.
At the time of Mariah's difficulties, I was only 13 so of course I did my fair share of dragging. My mom had the #1s CD and I actually bought Rainbow post-Christmas 1999 so I had a few landmarks. But I listened to the two hits on Rainbow and like two #1s songs (almost all of them had openings that sounded melancholy so I'd skip past), so really Glitter was the first time I had any sense of who (I thought) Mariah was. Even the following year when the slightly psychotic Charmbracelet cover came out, I had a bit of fun with that. With time and experience, one can better appreciate what a hard time she was going through and how she must have felt like everyone and everything was out to ruin a special project.
