I really disagree. She spent all of 2007 and 2008 in the spotlight and she was supposed to be on the DL for most of this year anyways. She needed time to cope with what happened before she re-emerged into the public and it was inevitable that people were going to question her about the incident when she started promoting the album. It really has more to do with the media and TV ratings than it does with album sales and at least Rihanna turned it into a positive experience by raising awareness about an important issue.

it's hard for a young girl to cope with all these things happened to her..
i just watched that interview,
and rihanna had been receiving messages from some of her girl fans all the time,
who were also being beaten by their boyfriends and being the victims of domestic violence,
and she now decides to talk about it and to raise people's awareness of the issue,
she also said there was a period of time she was just being confused, sometimes crying,
or sitting there all day, staring blankly into the tv, and couldn't return to her own house
since the paparazzi was there all the time, it must been hard for her..
now she's ready to talk about it and to release a new album
singing about the emotions accompanying, things are actually on the right track.
