The Cubans in South Florida fled Castro's communist regime in the 60s, and thus identified with the GOP's anti-Communist stance. Their beliefs have been passed from generation to generation, though the impact has waned somewhat.
We probably won't know anything about a possible winner until at least later tonight. Depending on the results, we could be waiting a while until we find out for certain who won.
If you're old enough to remember 2000, this isn't quite as bad.
2000 pissed me off so much. The early declaration of Gore winning the Presidency, the closeness of it all, the "Hanging Chad", Bush's eventual victory...it was so much more of a roller coaster than this year's election will be, regardless of how close it is.
