I was saying a few pages ago in this thread, that was the case in 2011, but in the past 6 months, there's been hardly anything generic getting to #1. Nothing since We Found Love. Stronger and Part of Me are, sort of, but they're guitar-esque songs.

I think Pound the Alarm will still be a big hit though (definitely top 10).

Well you're a really bad one because if you didn't notice, there are plenty of generic songs in the top 10 in the US right now, one of which is at #1. America is no different..

I wish every artist in the music business realized this. It seems as though many artists such as Nicki, Usher, and Chris think that the easiest way to get a #1 is by calling the nearest pop producer to produce a generic pop song for them. Sadly, until they realize that "different" instead of generic pop is "in" they will not have a #1 song. And that is exactly why PTA will not reach #1 on the Hot 100; its too generic and sounds similar to other songs on the radio.
