Gaga, with just the fame, outsells all of Katy's albums put together........ Then you can add over 8 million albums sold with born this way(which apparently is passed her peak, despite spawning a single which topped 9 million world wide and really what pop girl has sold anything like BTW)
Artpop sold OK.. Around as much as bangerz(which is considered a wild success?) , but Katy is popular.. But can be easily replaced (Ariana is her replacement) by an industry which is completely made to repress creativity and make money on things that work and are trendy

Who cares about sales in the illegal downloading age?
Those sales figures will forever remain in 2009-10. Born This Way sold so much because it sold for 99 cents, and the hype for the album was huge. It was promoted like no album had ever been promoted before. She announced it like 9 months before it actually came out - in her meat dress, arguably the peak of her career. Everyone was expecting her to be the next Madonna/Michael Jackson, so they bought it without even hearing it. When it fizzled out and didn't turn out to be all-that, she returned with ARTPOP to relatively abysmal sales compared to BTW.
What's the point in bragging about receipts from her short peak? Unless she has longevity, that peak will always remain that...a peak from an artist who was big in the late 2000s/early 10s. In 10-15 years time, you don't want to still be going "hey guys...remember The Fame Monster...remember Bad Romance...rah rah ah ah ah...remember?" You want her to still be slaying like Madonna was 20 years into her career.
