The reason I've chosen this picture is because it's sexy, fierce and effortless. She's in a simple black outfit yet looks classy while portraying sexy. This photo-shoot stands out to the rest of her previous work because of how effortless it looks. Usually, it'll look a lot more forced, in order to portray sexiness but this is a different case. Everything is on point, the hair, her posture and pose.

Avril Lavigne had a lot of professional photoshoots wherein she truly defined timeless beauty. Despite her age, she still looks young compared to hdr contemporaries in the biz. For this round, I picked the photos from one of her most iconic eras - UNDER MY SKIN.
Why did I pick Under My Skin or UMS photoshoot? It is simply because of how Lavigne were able to pull off a memorable look - the wardrobe, the long hair, rocker chic makeup, angsty vibe and poses. The photos were cohesive to each other which strengthened the UMS album's totality like a weaved story of a girl who doesn't give a sh*t about anyone.
The UMS photos truly slays as it shows Avril rocking out ballerina outfits with her dark and gothic twist. Aside from its aesthetic appeal, Lavigne's look on this photoshoot became the DNA blueprint to the aspiring pop rock chicks during that time until now. The impact was real. As a fan, seeing her photos from this era made me remember why I stanned so hard for her even if she's a flop right now.

I've chosen this photo from this collection, well, this photoshoot as a whole honestly, as Natalia's best (of what I haven't used thus far). I've actually have never seen this shoot before so I was excited to also run into the accompanying unlisted video.
The photo in spotlight though is a rare find from this flop and a hidden gem as Natalia's signature "preppy bitchy" style remains intact but is presented in a more toned down yet grandeur manner. I just love it because it gives such an authentic take on her. Like an actual photo of a humble Natalia and not as a flashy and bold figure that the few who do know of her are used to seeing. |
