Yes, there is still a lot we need to do but this still is cause for celebration. The legalizing of SSM will make future fights for the LGBT community a lot easier.
I don't know a lot about politics, but does anybody know how hard it would be to just, you know, make LGBT people a protected class on a federal level? If my understanding is correct, doing that would mean no discrimination (such as in the workplace, adoption, etc.) would be allowed.

I don't understand this thinking. What's there to disagree with? People being allowed to be happy and get married? How is something that doesn't affect you something to disagree with?
