It needs to be refreshing, something unlike Gaga - but not so far off (BTW) that it originally sounds horrible (BTW). The next level of Poker Face, without sounding like Poker Face

This. I think people grew to love BTW in time, but by that stage it was much too late for the song to have longevity.
Maybe just that it's a fun, bubbly pop song, like The Fame music.
And I agree, that's probably why. When the lyrics were released, I was expecting something really heavy and preachy. Thankfully, the 'pop-y' production of the song balanced the lyrics out well
Definitely want it to be fast paced though.
Born This Way (song) doesn't remind me of The Fame Gaga at all...
