Hallelujah has sold over 1 million copies since its release. That's 55.5x more than what Heartbreak on Hold managed to sell in its first week. Not that her star has faded or anything, though.
Jinzo's verdict: 4 So schmaltzy and fuzzy. Put I was PRESSED that Diana Vickers wasn't the winner!
The QUEEN of tacky European dance-pop, Natalie SERVED with this iconic dancefloor smash. Some vacuous internet queens tried it by comparing her to Stefani Joanne Germanotta, but sis you need to EDUCATe yourself and realise that Ms. Horler was bringing us dancefloor smashes before Stefani could even tuck her appendages away properly.
Jinzo's verdict: 9.5 As close to dance-pop perfection as you can get. Knocked off a 0.5 because of the stupid rap.
The problem with these Whitney wannabes like Leona and Alexandra is that they take all the feeling out of their covers in favor of vocal showmanship. The quality of the songs generally keeps things listenable, but their renditions are so blah.
"It's so great that 'Empire State of Mind' is huge and that everybody has the New York song, but what the ****? What about LA? What about California? And it's been a minute since we've had a California song and especially from a girl's perspective. We took the references of Prince, which is always a great reference, and we took a lot of the '90s, ... almost that house music, some of those references."
And then she spilt cream out her **** over a Dr Luke production. But we don't judge here at Jinzo HQ.
Jinzo's verdict: 6 The spark that lit the Teenage Dream flame! Might not have been the runaway success in the UK than it was in other unspecified local areas, but nonetheless it's still quite the bop.
