The fastest digital #1 single ever arrives this week. On sale from 9am Saturday Lady Gaga’s Born This Way scorches its way to the top of the New Zealand charts faster than any other tune in just 36 hours. It makes New Zealand the first territory to award the track #1 status.
Statistically it becomes her 11th New Zealand hit and just the second to top the chart. The sophomore single Poker Face ruled for 10 continuous frames in late 2008 and into early 2009.
It’s the very first time Lady Gaga has debuted Top10, her previous highest entry point being #19 for debut hit Just Dance which went on to peak at #3.
And on the back of the hype, the five-times platinum The Fame: Monster returns to the Albums Chart at #30 for a 104th week.
