Vocals are a talent, but an overrated musical one. People with wide ranges and lots of power oftentimes make bad music.

I do think Sam Smith is guaranteed to win Best New Artist, and he should manage several other nominations. An AOTY nomination probably depends on the success of his album and SWM's follow-up singles.

Sam Smith is clearly the frontrunner for BNA. I can't think of any other artist who can challenge him, and I can't see him being snubbed of a nomination like Lorde was since this year isn't the most competitive for new artists.

Whether she deserves it based on BEYONCÉ's quality is kinda subjective. But it can't really be debated that she'll be the most veteran and accomplished in the pool of nominees.

Vocals are just one of the instruments and Taylor can play 5 (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo guitar, ukulele, piano) of them so she's more talented than anyone in the game if we're going with your logic.

She sings like a mezzo. Her voice isn't suited for big high belt choruses.

Me too, to some extent.
I would never stan for a great vocalist that doesn't write (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey - even though she used to write good songs, today her writing is -, Beyoncé). Much less to people who don't sing nor write (like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj etc).
To me, songwriting is the talent that matters the most, at least when I'm listening to the music for the lyrics. I enjoy songs by people who don't write, but I don't connect to them the same way.

I watched Argo the other day and I don't feel as ****** about Ben Affleck as Bruce (Bats though, will be an issue).

I just wish he was directing. Like, how are you going to put Zack Snyder in charge of your (WB's) BIG franchise. This is the man who has only directed one good movie (the DotD remake). Like

But I'm just glad we're finally getting a WW movie so it can later be rebooted by someone good (directing AND playing Diana).

Also worried about having two Flashes from the same company in the span of a year.

Carrie was a puppet until 2 albums ago but from there her material got substatially better and actually interesting country instead of run of the mill.

I also really respect Kelly for risking her neck for My December even with subpar material. But there were some stand out tracks there, career best even.

The last performance i saw from Carrie sounded really scream-y to me too. I think its a common problem with powerful vocalists.
